Coopers Blue Water Classic 2020
It is with regret that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Coopers Bluewater Classic.
Our Council and Bluewater Classic Committee, with consideration to the current restrictions around Covid-19 set by the Northern Territory Government, have declared that in the interests of safety plus the welfare of all competitors and parties associated to the event, including our valued sponsors, that an early decision to cancel the event is in the best interest for all.
In cancelling the event for 2020, which was set for September this year, we have considered both the local and interstate participation levels in the event, the restraints set for social gathering and the quality of the event itself if held under restrictive policies including the use of the Club premises in maintaining safe environment for our competitors, guests and our fantastic Club staff, all of which when factored in would see our event under pressure to deliver the premier Bluewater Fishing event it is known for.
We have also made our decision in consideration to the many long term loyal sponsors who support this event in that they also currently working through their own Business commitments with Covid-19 restrictions, many of whom we have spoken to directly in giving our support back to them and wishing them all the best for the future.
In closing, we thank everyone over the many years who have supported or participated in the Coopers Bluewater Classic in making it one of the premier fishing competitions in the Northern Territory. We thank our sponsors who have supported our decision in sticking by us and lastly the commitment from the DTBC Bluewater Classic Committee, all of whom volunteer their time in organising this event year after year in growing it to what it has become.
We now look forward to 2021 in coming back bigger and better.
