Join the 2019 Great Northern Crab Challenge between May & July!

Our popular Great Norther Crab Challenge is back and it’s better than ever!

There are again great prizes to be won!

This year the Crab Comp will be run over three separate Sundays between May & July with both event & overall winners announced:

• Sunday 26 May
• Sunday 30 June
• Sunday 14 July

BASIC RULES

• This is a monthly & event competition run over 3 dates with a points system to determine winners both at each monthly weigh in & at the final judging.
• Crabs will be measured in length only & in categories being Biggest Buck, Biggest Jennie & Biggest Sand Crab. These scores will be combined to achieve a overall winner (1 cm = 1 point), only legal size crabs will be measured & NT Fisheries rules apply.
• Points will be awarded each outing with the overall winner being the person with the highest score after all rounds.
• Competitors must be at the Club by 5pm on each date for the official weigh in- no late entries allowed.
• Crabbing locations are Darwin Harbour and Shoal Bay only.
• This event is for Darwin Trailer Boat Club Members and their Guests only.
• All crabs presented for the weigh-in must be able to be measured in a safe manner, only crabs that have been tied/restrained or been iced for sedation will be allowed to be scored.

Note to all competitors:

• Please be aware of the NT Fisheries regulation changes effective 25th July 2018 around crabbing in NT waters, please ensure you check your pots for compliance.

PRIZES

Monthly Prizes (Event Winners):

• All awards will win Club vouchers to the value of $100 each:
  • Biggest Buck $100
  • Biggest Jennie $100
  • Biggest Sandcrab $100

Overall Winners:

• The competitor (Crabber) who scores the highest points over the 3 dates will win $800- cash, plus a $200 Club Voucher to spend at the Darwin Tailer Boat Club.
